H2H Geoscience Engineering has received final awards for several term contracts with the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) for General Construction Minor Maintenance (GCMM).

Building on our previous success with DASNY, H2H will now be working within five regions from Westchester to Syracuse, including as far north as Plattsburgh.  Each contract will consist of a 2 year base period with 2 option years and slated for a maximum value of one million dollars.  These management projects consist of exterior and interior work such as roof replacement, driveway replacement, septic system, building additions, and kitchen/bath upgrades.

H2H has been working with DASNY since the program’s inception in 2014.  By utilizing this contract method H2H is able to provide DASNY with a more cost-effective method of soliciting, and managing the work in addition to expediting the contracting process.  To date, H2H has worked on over $5 million dollars’ worth of projects for DASNY.

Pier 55 is a 2.4 acre park located over the Hudson River, on the lower west side of Manhattan. This one-of-a-kind park is supported by 132 precast concrete forms that create a base for green space, walking paths, rolling hills and a waterfront amphitheater – all over water! These massive, funnel-shaped forms, or pots are anchored to a number of individual concrete piers and create a striking appearance from the shore.

All 132 precast concrete pots were produced by the Fort Miller Group, in Upstate New York. Each pot consists of 5 petals surrounded by a column head – not one petal is the same. The pots weigh up to 90 tons and can reach up to 30 feet in height. H2H performed quality control high definition laser scanning of all pots and the finished product prior to final shipping and final assembly.

The pots were shipped down the Hudson River from the Fort Miller Group in Easton, NY to New York City, and then lowered into place by a 350-ton crane. Designed in collaboration between Heatherwick Studio and MNLA, the inspiration for this construction is a leaf floating on water. Slated for completion in the Spring of 2021, we can’t wait to visit and admire the completed project!

H2H performed high definition laser scanning using their Trimble SX10 Scanning Total Station on each concrete form to ensure that the final product exactly matched the design model. In this image of a concrete form, the scanning analysis shows deviations from the model. Blue represents deviations lower than the model, while red represents deviations above the model.

Construction is underway, and scheduled to be completed in the Spring of 2021.

H2H Geoscience Engineering is grateful to celebrate our 15-year anniversary. We couldn’t have reached this milestone without our staff, clients and partners who have helped make our growth possible. Thank you to all and we look forward to continuing to build a stronger community together!

This is a great time not only to plan for the next 15 years of success but also to reflect on some of our milestones as a company.
We’re sharing 15 reasons to celebrate with you!

Created in 2005 by Richard Hisert PhD, PG and Alan Hall, PG, H2H has grown and adapted to provide a range of services to state, federal and private sector clients throughout the United States and in Central and South America. At the forefront of the company’s development has been a commitment to utilizing state-of-the-art technology and providing clients with high-quality, responsive and cost-effective solutions.

Al Hall, founding partner of H2H, is still in our thoughts and hearts. An expert in Geology, gifted businessman and loyal friend, Al was one of the main forces that has shaped H2H into the talented firm that it is today.

Dr. Hisert is thrilled to have Trevor Thomas, PE added as a Partner to H2H. Trevor has been with the firm since its creation, progressing from Geotechnical Engineer, to Manager, to Partner. He has helped lead and transform the business from its grassroots beginning into the established high tech innovative firm it is today, and it is only fitting that he continues to grow with us!
