H2H provided, mine permitting, mine planning and reclamation planning consulting services for this 25 acre crushed stone operation in Connecticut. Permitting activities include the assessment of environmental impacts such as noise, visual, storm water, ground water and traffic.

Fairfield Resources, Mine Planning, Fairfield, Connecticut. Client and Project manager for the preparation of a comprehensive reserve analysis of Fairfield Resources’ operations. The mine plan took into consideration the permitting requirements and the limitations on the water use permit issued through the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection. The two-year mine plan also addressed the dewatering plans for the quarry, including a quarry design that minimizes the amounts of water incurred during the initial phases of mining. The mine plan also outlined the specifics for the operation as it began to undergo a transition from an above water table mining operation to a below water table mining operation.

Mining Hydrogeology and Impact Assessment – Connecticut

SONECO Northeastern Inc., Wetland Delineation-Groundwater Impact Assessment, Groton, CT. H2H staff were principals investigator that determined the groundwater and surface water relationships among a proposed mining site, an upland wetland system and surface drainage within the drainage basin. Completed a field mapping investigation, fracture trace analysis, wetland water budget analysis, and conducted in-situ hydraulic conductivity testing of several borings to evaluate the potential of draining the wetlands during the proposed mining effort. Developed a monitoring plan to evaluate groundwater and surface water impacts due to mining and evaluated mitigation measures to correct the potential problems that may arise from mining.
